CloudDeployer puts the AWS side of your multiplayer game into the Unreal Editor. Package your Linux server, build and push its Docker image, deploy the infrastructure and watch it come up - without switching to the AWS console or a terminal.

Three Alpha XP CloudFormation templates are included: an ECS Fargate dedicated-server service (cluster, task definition, service, security group with the UDP and TCP game port, log group, roles), an EC2 Auto Scaling game-server fleet (launch template that installs and starts your server, Auto Scaling group, security group, Session Manager access) and an ECR repository with a lifecycle policy. Deploy them as they are or use them as a starting point for your own.

The CloudDeployer tab (Window > Tools > Alpha XP > CloudDeployer) lists the stacks of the region with their status, validates a template and turns its parameters into an editable list, deploys it (create or update), follows the stack's event log live, shows its outputs and deletes stacks after a confirmation.

For automation, 90 Blueprint nodes work in Editor Utility Blueprints and Editor Utility Widgets. Deploy Stack creates or updates a stack and waits for the result while streaming every event; Wait For Stack follows any operation. Change sets preview updates, Estimate Template Cost links to the cost calculator. The ECR and Docker nodes create repositories and lifecycle policies, log Docker in to ECR without ever putting the password on a command line, build and push the image with live output, and generate a Dockerfile for a packaged Linux server. The ECS nodes register Fargate task definitions, create, scale and update services, run one server per match with Run Task and return the address players connect to with Get Task Public IP. EC2 and Auto Scaling nodes manage instances, security group ingress, key pairs, VPCs and subnets, and the size and processes of fleets.

Credentials come from your AWS CLI configuration - named profiles, SSO, credential_process and assume-role - or from static keys or a Cognito identity pool, and Get Caller Identity checks them in one click. Settings are stored per user, never in the project's Config folder. Every destructive node requires an explicit Confirm input. All requests run on background threads with automatic retries, so the editor never freezes.

CloudDeployer is part of the Alpha XP AWS collection for Unreal Engine 4.27 and 5.8. It is an editor-only plugin for the Win64 editor, includes the AWS SDK for C++ prebuilt, and ships with styled HTML documentation.

Blueprint & C++ API

Every call is reachable from more than one place β€” pick the entry point that fits your project:

CloudDeployerLibraryFunction library22Configuration, identity, template, Docker and editor helpers of CloudDeployer (for Editor Utility Blueprints and Widgets).
Async action nodesLatent Blueprint nodes2Latent node with success / failure output pins.

Callable runs when executed Β· Pure no exec pin, returns a value Β· LatentAsync finishes later and fires its outputs

CloudDeployer 2

NodeTypeAvailable onDescription
CancelAsyncAsyncStops waiting for this request: none of its output pins fire any more. Requests already sent may still complete on AWS; a Docker command or a stack wait stops.
Is FinishedAsyncAsyncTrue after Cancel was called or the node finished.

Config 3

NodeTypeAvailable onDescription
Set Region(Region: String)CallableStaticSwitches the AWS region used by every following request (and by the CloudDeployer tab).
Set Credential Mode(Mode: Cloud Deployer Credential Mode)CallableStaticOverrides the credential mode from the settings for this editor session.
Is Configured() β†’ Boolean, ProblemPureStaticChecks the settings and returns false with a reason when requests cannot work yet (use Get Caller Identity to test the credentials themselves).

Identity 6

NodeTypeAvailable onDescription
Set Profile(Profile Name: String)CallableStaticUses a named profile from ~/.aws/credentials or ~/.aws/config (static keys, SSO, credential_process or assume-role) and switches to the default chain.
Set Login Token(Provider: String, Token: String)CallableStaticSigns in to the Cognito identity pool with a token from an identity provider (Cognito Identity Pool mode only).
Clear Login TokensCallableStaticForgets all login tokens and the cached Cognito identity.
Set Static Credentials(Access Key Id: String, Secret Access Key: String, Session Token: String)CallableStaticUses these credentials from now on (Static Keys mode), for example temporary keys from 'aws sts get-session-token'. Kept in memory only.
Get Identity Id() β†’ StringPureStaticThe Cognito identity id, empty until credentials were resolved once (Cognito mode only).
Make User Pool Provider Name(Region: String, User Pool Id: String) β†’ StringPureStaticBuilds the identity-pool login key of a Cognito user pool: cognito-idp.<region>.amazonaws.com/<user pool id>.

Templates 3

NodeTypeAvailable onDescription
Get Bundled Template(Name: String) β†’ Boolean, Template BodyCallableStaticReads one of the CloudFormation templates shipped in the plugin's Templates folder: "EcsFargateServer" (ECS Fargate dedicated-server service), "Ec2GameFleet" (E…
List Bundled Templates() β†’ Array of StringPureStaticNames of the templates in the plugin's Templates folder (for Get Bundled Template).
Load Template File(Path: String) β†’ Boolean, Template BodyCallableStaticReads a template file (YAML or JSON) from disk. Templates over 51,200 bytes must be deployed from S3 (Template Url).

Stacks 3

NodeTypeAvailable onDescription
Get Stack Output Value(Outputs: Array of Cloud Deployer Stack Output, Key: String) β†’ Boolean, ValuePureStaticFinds one output of a stack by key, for example "ClusterName" or "RepositoryUri".
Is Terminal Stack Status(Status: String) β†’ Boolean, SucceededPureStaticTrue when a stack status is final; Succeeded tells success (CREATE/UPDATE/DELETE/IMPORT _COMPLETE) from failure (FAILED, ROLLBACK ...).
Get Stack Console Url(Stack Name Or Id: String, Region: String) β†’ StringPureStaticAWS console link of a stack (name or id). Empty Region = the configured region. Open it with Launch URL.

  5. Right-click in any Blueprint graph and search CloudDeployer β€” or include the public headers from C++.
  6. Package for your target platform (Windows).

Good to know

Built for Unreal Engine 4.27 and 5.8. Editor-only tool for the Win64 editor. Requires an AWS account; the resources you deploy are billed by AWS. The Docker nodes need Docker Desktop. Settings are stored per user (EditorPerProjectUserSettings), never in the project's Config folder. On Win64 the SDK is one DLL with a plugin-specific name, so CloudDeployer can be installed next to other AWS-based plugins. Developed and maintained by Alpha XP.
